
The UCLA Office of Inclusive Excellence (IE) seeks a dynamic, collegial and respected faculty scholar to serve as the next Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence (AVP-IE).
Overview
The AVP-IE will provide key leadership on IE-related matters, work throughout the UCLA community and provide guidance and leadership regarding key research initiatives.
The AVP-IE reports to the Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence (VP-IE) and serves on the IE Leadership Team. In collaboration with the VP-IE, the AVP-IE engages and advises UCLA’s administrative and faculty leadership, including the Executive Vice Provost/Provost, Deans, Directors and Chairs on a range of matters concerning Inclusive Excellence.
Details
Duties will include but are not limited to: (a) designing and overseeing interdisciplinary institutional research and engagement initiatives; (b) developing and leading engagement initiatives within the UCLA community; (c) representing the Vice Provost and IE at key meetings and committees; and (d) related administrative duties. Qualifications for success include strong experience in community building, an outstanding scholarly research and publication record in inclusive excellence and related areas; experience developing interdisciplinary research projects and programmatic initiatives; a demonstrated commitment to Inclusive Excellence at UCLA and beyond (i.e., in local, national, and/or international contexts); and the ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically throughout the UCLA community. The AVP-IE is expected to work effectively with IE staff, Inclusive Excellence Advisors, other members of the Office of Inclusive Excellence and campus and community partners integral to advancing Inclusive Excellence at UCLA.
This is a 50% tenured faculty appointment in the appropriate department or school at the associate or full professor rank. This is an annual appointment, subject to renewal, with an anticipated term of three (3) years. This is an internal recruitment limited to current UCLA ladder-rank faculty members.
