
The Office of Inclusive Excellence (IE) seeks three (3) to five (5) part-time (10 hours a week) Student Interns to support office initiatives, programs, events, communications/marketing efforts, and administrative and special projects during the 2026-2027 academic year.
Overview
Under the supervision of the Program Manager for IE Engagement and Initiatives (or designated Office staff), Student Interns will assist with a variety of projects that advance the mission and strategic priorities of the Office of Inclusive Excellence. Interns will gain hands-on experience within a university office environment while supporting day-to-day operations and special initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with planning, preparation, and facilitation of Office events and programs
- Supporting educational initiatives and student engagement efforts
- Assisting with website updates and digital content development
- Creating flyers, presentations, social media graphics, and other communications materials
- Conducting research, data entry, and basic assessment support
- Organizing project materials and maintaining shared documents/files
- Providing general office and administrative support as needed
- Participating in monthly Internship meetings and professional development activities
- Assisting with other duties and special projects as assigned
Interns may encounter sensitive subject matter and are expected to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of their work.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Current UCLA undergraduate, graduate, or professional student
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated professionalism and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, social media management, or graphic design tools
- Experience assisting with events, programs, or student organizations
- Interest in communications, programming, higher education, or inclusive excellence-related work
- Experience with website editing, research support, or administrative tasks

The Personal Statement of Interest (required) is limited to one (1) single-spaced page. It must explain: (a) why the student is interested in the IE Student Internship Program; (b) why the student is qualified to participate (relevant experiences, interests, and transferable skills) and what they hope to contribute; and (c) how participation in the Internship aligns with their professional and academic goals.
The List of References (required) should include 2-3 professional references. These references may be, but are not limited to, a previous employer, UCLA faculty member, staff member, or TA. Please include each reference’s name, contact information, and affiliation.
The Digital Content or Graphic Design Sample (required for those interested in communications/digital content-related responsibilities) should include 3-5 samples of prior work (flyers, announcements, etc.). Samples should also include a brief description of each project and demonstrate the applicant’s experience in content design. Prior experience in graphic or digital content design is preferred but not required.
